Chief priest denies entry of non-Hindus to temples

Amidst all speculations that whether non-Hindus will be permitted inside the temple premises in south India, the chief priest of a famous temple in kerala has denied any entry for non-Hindus into the temples.

The chief priest of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple, Raman Namboodiri, said that he is not willing to let non-Hindus into the temple. But, he said he had utmost respect for the Indian Government, Administration and Judiciary, and if any law regarding entry of non-Hindus is brought into effect, he will oblige by it.

His son Satishan announced this in Guruvayur at a press conference on Thursday.

The decision was taken after a majority of priests met at a gathering of religious heads in Thrissur.

The priests are not in the favor of temple reforms. They want to go by the customs and traditions and rituals that they have been following over a long time.

The Constitution of India says that it is against the Fundamental Right of a person if he is discriminated upon. But, the constitution also imbibes and permits Freedom of religion to every individual.

So, the priests of the Hindu temples are enjoying the Right to Freedom of religion without caring for the sentiments of other people, who do not belong to Hinduism but have reverence in their hearts for the Hindu Gods and Goddesses.
